Research Focus
My research focuses broadly on the neural mechanisms of aggression. Aggressive interactions between animals might contain multiple stages, each of which is characterized by different behaviors in response to an opponent. I study how the brain coordinates these dynamic aggressive interactions in the miniature, transparent fish Danionella dracula, taking advantage of the small size and optical accessibility of its adult brain which is unparalleled among vertebrates.
