Research Focus
I am broadly interested in how internal physiological states shape behavior. In the Sandkam Lab, my research focuses on the mechanisms underlying changes in female mating receptivity across the reproductive cycle in guppies (Poecilia reticulata). I also study reproductive trait diversity in Poecilia parae, a closely related species with five distinct male morphs. I take an interdisciplinary approach, integrating neurobiology, genetics, behavior, and evolutionary biology to uncover how physiology and behavior are linked.
